DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) is a digital radio communication standard that offers several advantages over traditional analog radio systems. It's designed to enhance efficiency, coverage, and capacity in two-way radio communications. DMR uses TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) technology providing two timeslots, allowing two voice conversations to take place simultaneously through a single repeater. Key features and benefits of DMR:

dPMR (digital Private Mobile Radio) is also a digital standard and provides a spectrum efficient, true 6.25kHz ‘ultra-narrowband’ digital two way radio communications technology. dPMR uses FDMA (Frequency Division Multiple Access) which divides the regular 12.5kHz voice channel into two ‘true’ 6.25kHz voice channels. Because of the way FDMA works, it doesn’t permit two simultaneous conversations through a single repeater.
Key features and benefits of dPMR:
- Coverage: dPMR can provide a 30% wider coverage area than 12.5 kHz analog, and can extend range by up to 15%.
- Infrastructure costs: dPMR's greater coverage can result in lower infrastructure costs, as fewer repeaters are needed to cover the same area.
- Frequency Division Access (FDMA): dPMR uses FDMA, which divides a 12.5 kHz channel into two identical 6.25 kHz channels. This allows users to double the capacity of their usable spectrum without the need for a repeater.
